The crackdown on glitch users is being widely discussed in the community of The Division 2. What keeps coming up: many criticize the numerous bugs in the game. Accordingly, the next severe DPS glitch has already been found.
What is the ban wave about? Last week, The Division 2 struggled with a DPS glitch. This was massively exploited, leading many players to gain more loot, countless SHD levels, or unfair advantages in PvP.
Massive attempted to get rid of the glitch in a kind of maintenance and patch marathon and seemingly managed to do so after several attempts at the end of last week. Then, something happened this week that practically no one expected.
The developers took strict action because the bug had an extremely negative impact on the in-game economy and completely took away the fun from the game for some players. This led to large-scale sanctions against the glitch users. There were temporary account bans and a rollback of progress to the status from March 17.
How are players reacting? They are discussing – and quite a lot, more than ever, it seems. On one hand, there is a lot of support and praise for Massive. Such a statement has long been overdue and should benefit the game in the long run. On the other hand, there is also criticism, and many banned players are taking to the barricades.
Some feel the punishment is too harsh. Others believe they have been banned completely unjustly and are unaware of any wrongdoing. They claim they never cheated or were merely followers and are now being punished, while some agents openly admit to having systematically exploited the glitch and remain completely unpunished.
However, almost everyone – whether affected by the ban or not – agrees: The developers must make significant improvements to The Division 2. The game has an enormous number of bugs and glitches. While errors are fixed with each patch, it seems that even more arise. Moreover, the loot is far from satisfactory. Thus, it is at least understandable (though not justifiable) that some might resort to glitches to get a little help.
The general sentiment is: If the game had been in better condition and the quality of loot more inviting, it would never have come to this.
By the way: In the State of the Game from April 1, the developers stated that the bans and rollbacks were specifically reviewed per account. Players were only banned if they had truly utilized the glitch and not merely been followers.
While one has the option to contact support if they feel punished unjustly, there have yet to be any false-positive cases where a ban would need to be lifted, according to Massive.
Despite the patch marathon – next DPS glitch discovered: This issue is now underscored by the latest find from the community.
After seemingly getting the DPS glitch under control at the end of last week and cracking down on Tuesday, the community has already discovered the next DPS glitch. Thus, Massive apparently still hasn’t managed to get it under control.
This bug apparently entered the game with the patch on Tuesday, March 31, and allows for one-shot kills with the pistol – even against bosses. However, exploiting this error is strongly discouraged if one does not want to risk a temporary or even permanent ban.
In short: No matter how one feels about Massive’s sanctions: the developers urgently need to make improvements in The Division 2 – not just to improve the atmosphere, but also to maintain their credibility after the recent measures.
By the way, The Division 2 is planning two massive updates in April to address the biggest issues and bugs.
