According to the latest rumors, more than 1,000 people are currently working on The Division 2. This would make it a mega project and the biggest game of all time for Ubisoft. These figures are not officially confirmed, but alongside Massive, five other studios are working on the game.
Somewhat surprisingly, the MMO shooter The Division 2 was announced last Thursday. The game has reportedly been in development since March 2016. Back then, a small team already began conceptualizing The Division 2.
Massive in the lead, 5 Ubisoft studios for support
On Thursday, it was officially stated in a press release from Ubisoft that Massive Entertainment in Malmö is leading the development of The Division 2. In addition, Massive is supported by five other Ubisoft studios:
- Ubisoft Annecy
- Redstorm
- Reflection
- Ubisoft Bucharest
- and Ubisoft Shanghai.

What dimensions The Division 2 has, the website Gamereactor wants to find out now. It quotes a source close to the project, stating: “Currently, over 1,000 people are working on The Division 2. This makes it the largest Ubisoft game of all time.”
However, Ubisoft did not want to officially confirm this.
By comparison: It is known that Bungie currently has over 700 people working on the Destiny franchise titles. Here, Activision has also provided additional studios to support Bungie in the development of Destiny.
The Division 2 is set to be showcased at E3 2018 in June. Until then, no further official information on The Division 2 is expected.
For The Division, a movie with Jake Gyllenhaal is also in the works. Some expect a release by March 2019. Currently, some game content is also planned for The Division 1:
