For Update 1.8 of The Division, many agents are demanding one thing from Massive: All DLC content should be free. Season pass for everyone!
Since the early days of The Division, the season pass has divided the community. There are two reasons for this:
- Those without a season pass must forgo the gameplay modes Underground, Survival, and Last Stand. Once, various gear sets were exclusive, but these have since been made available to all players.
- Players on PS4 were disadvantaged when it came to DLC content. They had to wait at least a month longer for new content than Xbox and PC agents.
The season pass has therefore caused frustration, anger, and a divided agency from the very beginning.
How long should the agency remain divided?
In year 2, Massive is taking a different approach: All upcoming content is free for all agents and will be released on all platforms simultaneously. Now, no one will be disadvantaged or favored.
However, the old problem continues to exist: the season pass content from year 1 is still exclusive to season pass holders. This divide still exists. Therefore, numerous agents are demanding on YouTube, Reddit, and in other forums that this content be made available to everyone.
Several arguments are being made for this step:
- It would increase player numbers in all DLC modes. Currently, it takes a long time to find teammates. The entire player base would benefit from this.
- It would improve the reputation of The Division and possibly attract new players.
- This way, the community could move forward into the future of The Division as a “unified community”.
However, there are also voices that view this proposal critically – especially from among season pass holders. After all, they paid a lot of money for the expansion pass. Those who want this content should also pay up.
Supporters reply: The last season pass content was released over 6 months ago. That is enough exclusivity time. After all, everyone would benefit from having more players in The Division.
