In The Division we show you how to find all Exotics. An overview of all exotic weapons and all exotic gear pieces.
Since the 1.6 update, there are exotic items in Ubisoft’s The Division. These are the former named weapons and gear pieces, all equipped with unique talents and marked in the inventory with a reddish color.
What opportunities are there to obtain exotic items? What is the chance that an Exotic drops? And where can I find that one Exotic I have been looking for?
These sources can drop exotic weapons and gear pieces
In the endgame of The Division, there are several ways to find Exotics. The information and statistics come from the Divisionfieldguide:
- Performance-Container (You receive them by collecting experience points) – chance for Exotic is 1%
- “Last Stand”-Container – chance is 1%
- Survival-Container – chance is 1%
- Underground-Container – chance is 1%
- Exotic Containers and Weekly Assignment Containers – Each has one Exotic at 100%
- Dark Zone Leaderboard Containers: Small container 0%-chance, medium container 50%-chance, large container 100%-chance. Each weekly and monthly.
- The Specialist Equipment Vendor at the Terminal has five exotic weapons available.

Find all exotic gear pieces – List
Since the 1.5 update, there are six gear pieces with unique talents at World Rank 5. Since 1.6, these are exotic. Besides the containers, you can find them through these sources:
- Mask: Ferro’s Oxygen Mask: Defeat Joe Ferro in the “Napalm Production Site” mission in the south of the map – Drop chance is about 1%.
- Knees: Shortbow Championship Pads: Defeat Hutch in the “Madison Field Hospital” mission – Drop chance is about 1%.
- Holster: Colonel Bliss’ Holster: Defeat Lt. Col. Charles Bliss in the “General Assembly” mission. This is the final story mission – Drop chance is about 2%.
- Gloves: Skulls MC Gloves: Every named boss in the open world has a chance to drop these gloves. You can find a map with all bosses here – Drop chance about 1%.
- Body Armor: Barret’s Bulletproof Vest: Defeat Larae Barrett in the “Lexington Event Center” mission – Drop chance is about 1%.
- Backpack: NinjaBike Messenger Bag: All bosses in the Dark Zone can drop this backpack – Drop chance is about 1%, even though many agents report that this bad exotic drops too frequently.
Find all exotic weapons – List
Since 1.6, each exotic weapon has a unique talent. You can find the weapons in the containers mentioned above, directly at a vendor or from further sources in the game:
Exotic Assault Rifles
- Caduceus: Named bosses in the open world (outside the DZ) – 2%-chance
- Liberator: Specialist Equipment Vendor for 1331 Phoenix Credits (Weapon Set)
- Warlord: Falcon Lost (and Clear Sky) in Challenge Mode and on Heroic – 5%-chance
- Urban-MDR: Bosses in Challenge Mode missions – 2%-chance
- Bullfrog: Dark Zone Contamination Events
Exotic Submachines
- Midas: Named bosses inside the Dark Zone – 2%-chance
- Valkyria is now a weapon set consisting of Hildr and Eir: Both drop from (weekly) HVT bosses (high-value targets) with a 2%-chance.
- Thompson M1928: Dark Zone supply drops and contamination events
- Tommy Gun: Dark Zone supply drops and contamination events
Exotic Sniper Rifles
- Historian: Specialist Equipment Vendor for 1331 Phoenix Credits
- Tenebrae: Named bosses in the open world (outside the DZ) – 2%-chance
Exotic Light Machine Guns
- Pakhan: Specialist Equipment Vendor for 1331 Phoenix Credits
- Hungry Hog: Named bosses inside the Dark Zone – 2%-chance
Exotic Shotguns
- Showstopper: Bosses in Challenge Mode missions – 2%-chance
- Cassidy: Specialist Equipment Vendor for 1331 Phoenix Credits
- Medved: Falcon Lost and Clear Sky (and Dragon’s Nest) in Challenge Mode and on Heroic – 5%-chance
Exotic Pistols
- Centurion: Specialist Equipment Vendor for 1331 Phoenix Credits (Weapon Set)
- Golden Rhino: Dragon’s Nest raid – 5%-chance
- Damascus: As a reward for completing the last story mission.
- (Defiler: Exclusive season pass weapon that is now available at the reward vendor. Has no exotic talent).
