In The Division, we are looking at a new gear set that is currently available on the PTS: D3-FNC.
Currently, Update 1.5 can be tested alongside the Survival mode on the public test servers of PC agents. You can find the preliminary patch notes here. However, these changes are not set in stone – much refinement will still be done before the official release of the update.
In addition to new weapons and named armor pieces, a fresh gear set has already been discovered, which is expected to be named “Frontline,” but is currently referred to as D3-FNC on the PTS. This designation is likely just a placeholder that will be replaced upon release. The talent is already referred to as “Frontline.” What can this gear set do?
The bonuses and talent of D3-FNC
All gear sets in The Division consist of 6 armor pieces. Once you have collected and equipped several of them, certain bonuses are unlocked. Since Update 1.4, there are exclusively bonuses for two, three, and four set pieces. These are the bonuses of D3-FNC:
- 2-piece bonus: +15% protection from elites.
- 3-piece bonus: +30% health of the ballistic shield.
- 4-piece bonus: Talent “Frontline”: You can wield a submachine gun while the ballistic shield is active. However, this removes the chance for critical hits. You can use the skill simultaneously with an SMG.
This set appeared in a similar form months ago, before 1.3, but it was quickly confirmed that it would not be coming in 1.3 for The Division. The chances for 1.5 are now significantly better.
The playstyle favored by this set is obvious: It is suitable for tanks. With Update 1.4, numerous improvements were made to the once severely bugged ballistic shield. This skill enables an advanced tank playstyle, which can become even more lucrative with the Frontline set.
We currently do not have official information from Massive on when this gear set is expected to be added to the game and whether it will be paid content for Survival or free with 1.5.
