Starting in early July, fans of dinosaurs can look forward to a new film. With Jurassic World: The Rebirth, the well-known franchise is back. The director of the film, Gareth Edwards, was initially reluctant about the project, but he was convinced.
What kind of film is it? Jurassic World: The Rebirth is a new installment in the Jurassic Park franchise. Unlike in the World trilogy, there are new main characters this time. The cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali.
The film features an expedition to a dangerous remote island to obtain crucial DNA for medical development. However, the prehistoric inhabitants pose a significant threat.
The film is directed by Gareth Edwards, although he was initially reluctant to take it on. However, after reading the script, his mind changed.

I read this script and wanted to hate it
What does Edwards say? Gareth Edwards is well-versed in sci-fi and monsters. In 2014, he directed Godzilla, in 2016 Rogue One, and in 2023 The Creator. As he reveals in an interview (via GamesRadar), he initially wanted to take a break from filmmaking. But then came the script for Jurassic World: The Rebirth.
He explains that he was ready to politely decline and thank them for considering him. But then he read the script: I read this script and wanted to hate it
. By the end of the script, Edwards was convinced and chose to direct the film, despite his previous desire not to.
The script is by David Koepp, who also wrote the screenplay for the first Jurassic Park from 1993. In the interview, Edwards praises the characters. He wanted to be part of it, even though it would take a lot of time: I just thought: Okay, I won’t be able to do anything else but this
.
Nevertheless, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
that he ultimately couldn’t refuse.
