In Diablo 4, with “Vessel of Hatred,” content is introduced for the first time that can only be completed by groups. Interestingly, very few players have been playing in groups so far.
What are the developers planning? With Vessel of Hatred, group dungeons are being introduced for the first time in Diablo 4. As the name suggests, these can only be completed by groups. Players will not be able to tackle the dungeons alone.
To make forming groups easier, the developers are introducing a group finder, which players have long desired. The MMO concept continues in Diablo 4, even though most players have not been playing in groups so far.
Here you can learn more about Vessel of Hatred:
Most players play alone
Is this suitable for the players? No, not really. As the developers of Diablo 4 revealed in an interview on YouTube, 85% of players play without a group. The number of players playing without a group was likely even higher before the game was introduced to Game Pass, as at least new players who play with Game Pass probably prefer to play in groups.
Nonetheless, the 85% of players who currently play alone will need to venture into a group to experience the new content. According to wowhead.com, at least two players are needed to tackle the new cooperative dungeons, while the content is designed for four players.
Why are the developers doing this? The developers see that especially younger players prefer to play in groups. One developer says: “Many younger players don’t know a world without playing together.” (via YouTube)
In the interview, the developers explain that they want to make their game appealing to as many different types of players as possible. The group finder is meant to help players who have previously been playing without a group to find a group more easily.
According to the developers, the idea behind the cooperative dungeons is to create new content for players who enjoy playing in groups. The dungeons should focus on how well the characters in the group work together. If a group has excellent synergies, the dungeon becomes a lot of fun.
With the introduction of the new group dungeons, players are not losing anything; something new is simply being added to appeal to a different group of players.
