Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has been released and is receiving very good reviews. There is also praise from within the industry itself. The community is particularly excited about a gesture from CD Projekt Red.
How does KCD2 fare? The RPG from Warhorse Studios was released on February 4, 2025, and has received numerous very good reviews. On Metacritic, the game has a strong score of 88%, and MeinMMO editor Karsten Scholz was also very impressed.
There is praise not only from the press. A notable developer from the gaming industry has also spoken out. We’re talking about CD Projekt Red, the studio behind The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077. The RPG experts have bestowed a special honor upon Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
Geralt and Heinrich – a perfect pair
What does the honor look like? On x.com, the team from CD Projekt Red addressed Warhorse Studios with the following congratulations:
Congratulations on the release of Kingdom Come Deliverance II! May your blade always be sharp, your cup never dry, and the path be safe! And as a reminder, if you ever encounter monsters – we’d be happy to lend you a silver sword. Audentes Fortuna.

Along with this, a beautifully drawn artwork shows Geralt of Rivia and Heinrich, the protagonist from Kingdom Come. The two heroes stand opposite each other and greet each other with a handshake. What a collaboration would look like can only be imagined based on the image.
After all, Geralt and Heinrich move through quite different worlds. While the Witcher world is generally grounded, it is inhabited by numerous monsters. There is also magic and supernatural witcher powers.
In contrast, Heinrich lives in the real 15th century of Bohemia. Monsters there are at most human, and magic is merely a pretext to bring unwanted parts of society to the stake.
What does the community say? On Reddit, the post by CD Projekt Red was shared and causes much delight among the users. The gesture from the Witcher developers is understood as a bow from true RPG veterans to a colleague in the industry – even among players who do not know Geralt:
- “I have never played The Witcher games, but this message and the art are extraordinarily healing. European studios are amazing, keep up the good work!”, writes gymiger.
- “Fantastic, my two favorite games. I love this drawing,” finds tennes87.
- “Now I want a Witcher with the KCD combat system … Witcher 3 is a top-3 game for me, but it’s hard to go back to this combat system,” says lebastss.
- “Aww. This is charming and has made me feel all warm inside,” says kirkerandrews.
The exchange thus creates a good atmosphere among players. It remains to be seen how they will evaluate the new game after their first playthroughs. Meanwhile, the initial high of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has been somewhat dampened, which particularly bothers one person: Lead developer of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 complains about Metacritic and a review that messed up his score.
