The joint project of Marvel and Square Enix, Avengers Project, is still shrouded in silence. However, developer Eidos Montreal is bringing more and more new employees on board.
What is happening at Eidos? In the Canadian headquarters of Square Enix and Eidos in Montreal, there are major expansions going on in 2019. The office in Canada, with over 700 employees, is already considered the largest subsidiary of Square outside of Japan, but it is set to expand even further:
- Over 100 new jobs for Square Enix Montreal and Eidos Montreal in 2019
- Expansion of office space by almost 1,000 m² (currently about 5,000 m²). It would be almost as large as the White House
- New studio for motion capture and image measurement
- New studio for mixing and voice recording
- New department for market and user research
These are all upgrades that the MMO Avengers Project could benefit from. The expansion is scheduled to take place sometime in 2019.
What is the status of Avengers Project? The collaboration between Square Enix and Marvel was announced back in early 2017. It is expected to be a huge project that encompasses multiple games.
At the beginning of 2018, the developers Eidos and Crystal Dynamics posted various new job listings online, mainly for leading positions in development and management areas.
So far, all information regarding what exactly fans can expect from Avengers Project has been kept under wraps. Based on the job postings for Avengers Project, it is suspected that it is an MMO, but exact information is still lacking.
When could new information arrive? Recently, Square Enix confirmed its presence at E3 2019.
However, unlike publishers such as Bethesda or Microsoft, they have not yet said a word about which Square Enix games we can expect at E3.
It is possible that fans will finally receive more information about the Avengers Project after a two-year wait.
