Why is Star Citizen giving away such an expensive spaceship? Developer CIG is in a celebratory mood. The space game is celebrating its anniversary and in a few days, the CitizenCon 2023 will also begin. To celebrate this properly, there is a special event in the game until the start of the event. In this, you can win an Anvil F8C Lightning, a heavy combat spaceship, and with some luck, keep it forever.
What do you need to do for this? To receive the spaceship, it is basically enough to loot boxes and NPCs in missions. With a bit of luck, you will find a golden ticket/license relatively quickly this way. With that in your luggage, you then steer towards a space station with the appropriate terminal and redeem the license there. Through a pop-up, you will receive a confirmation for the successful redemption. You will now receive a free version of the F8C Lightning for your hangar for 24 hours.
How can I secure the ship permanently? By redeeming, you simultaneously unlock the purchase option in the shop. There, the spaceship costs you about 300 euros depending on the payment method. If you pay with fresh real money, the price is about 290 euros with a lifetime guarantee. If you still have enough shop credits in your account, you need to pay around 330 euros and will receive a 6-month insurance for the ship.
Can you also keep the ship for free? Yes, but you have to work hard for it. In addition to the golden ticket/license, there is also a platinum version available during the event. You can only find this license with Star Citizen developers who are present in the game.
How do I get the platinum edition? To take the platinum ticket from them, you need to shoot them down. With the valuable loot, you should then quickly head to the next terminal to redeem it. If the license is in your inventory, all players on the server will be informed of your location. You will go from the hunter to the hunted and need to be careful not to lose the ticket yourself.
Are there any other ways to get the spaceship? If you are a big supporter of Star Citizen, the F8C Lightning might already be in your possession. All supporters from 10,000 euros are members of the ‘Chairman’s Club’ and do not need to search for the spaceship. This will automatically await you in your hangar.
If you have no luck hunting for tickets and you are not a support heavyweight, there will be another way to get the heavy fighter. Once the single-player story Squadron 42 is available, you can unlock the spaceship by completing the campaign.
