ARC Raiders has responded to an exploit that has plagued the shooter for weeks with a hotfix. Cheaters are now expecting a heated time.
Why the hotfix? In ARC Raiders, there has been an exploit in recent weeks that allowed players to glitch into locked areas. Rather than opening a locked door with the corresponding key, they used various items to essentially glide through the door.
Although the developers already released a patch for the issue with Update 1.3.0 on November 20, 2025, cheating players found another, similar way to continue gaining access to locked spaces.
One week later, on November 27, 2025, Embark released a second hotfix with Update 1.4.0 that aims to address the issue – with a heated surprise.
What was that heated surprise? With the update from November 27, the developers implemented mechanisms in all locked rooms across all maps. These mechanisms are designed to reduce the success rate of cheating players.
If you now enter a locked room in unforeseen ways, a fire-breathing device will activate that sets you on fire. Your Raider will then die a fiery death.
The Reddit user “Forward_Problem_7550” demonstrates in a video what this can look like:
The developers couldn’t resist making a humorous statement in the patch notes (via arcraiders.com): “We have made a very hot fix for the exploit in locked rooms.”
This is what the community says: Many players are writing on Reddit that they find this fix “brilliant”, sometimes better than a regular resolution of the exploit.
A side effect is particularly well received: “The best part about it is that the clowns who exploit the glitch lose all their gear to someone who opens the door normally with a key.”
One player also expects that Embark will track how many Raiders have died due to the new protection mechanisms and publish a statistic after a few days.
