Manor Lords is a new building game on Steam, where you build and sustain your medieval settlement through hard times. The game enjoys many players, but what about a roadmap?
Why is there no roadmap? There is a good reason why Manor Lords does not have a roadmap during its “Early Access” phase. The strategy game on Steam is developed solely by one developer, Grzegorz “Greg” Styczen. The development is a one-man project, and accordingly, resources are lacking. Moreover, the most important point: promises.
As Grzegorz Styczen wrote in the Steam news (via steampowered.com) about his game, he does not want to make any more promises that do not interest the fans.
He had the following to say: “I do not plan to release a roadmap yet. I have made the mistake once or twice of promising a feature and working on it, only to find out that it was not as important to the testers as it was to me and that they actually wanted something different. So even if I have a plan, I want to adopt the philosophy of ‘listen, verify, implement.'”
Furthermore, Grzegorz Styczen wants to prioritize fixes for bugs, improvements, and optimizations in the first months of Early Access to polish Manor Lords. After the “cleanup” work, community feedback will be reviewed and analyzed to develop a new battle plan for upcoming content.
How long will the Early Access last? It has been announced on Steam that Manor Lords is expected to remain in Early Access for one year. Depending on the feedback from the community and how the development unfolds, this time could also be extended.
