The next chapter is coming soon in Dead by Daylight. The “Stranger Things” DLC is particularly significant, as it features not only a new killer and a new map but also two survivors. On the PTR, the new characters are already playable, which means the Demogorgon’s “Mori” animation is now available. Of course, we don’t want to withhold this from you.
What is a “Mori” animation? In Dead by Daylight, the killer usually wins when they hang the survivors on meat hooks and sacrifice them. However, all killers have the option to kill their victims directly “by hand”. This is possible through special perks or offerings. One of these offerings is the “Memento Mori” offerings. That’s why the community refers to the “Mori animation” – the specific animation with which a killer directly kills the survivor. Each killer has their own Mori animation that fits their character and backstory.
How the Demogorgon “morits”: The Demogorgon leaps at the survivor lying on the ground and slashes its claws into their torso. When the survivor holds their wounds, the Demogorgon opens its flower-like head and envelops the survivor’s head to eat him. It crunches and cracks grossly until the survivor is spat out and remains dead on the ground. The Demogorgon then pokes at its victim again and roars triumphantly.
The “Stranger Things” DLC is probably the smartest move of the game developers of Dead by Daylight.
Why is there no decapitation? Although Dead by Daylight is quite a brutal game, the Demogorgon’s Mori animation does not involve biting off a head, even though it would fit with the animation. The reason is likely that decapitations would cause Dead by Daylight to receive different age ratings in some countries or would not be allowed to be distributed openly. Previously, the developers had stated that there would be no decapitations in the game (at least depicted).
When is the Demogorgon coming? Currently, the Demogorgon is still on the PTR of Dead by Daylight. Its release will take place sometime in September, but there is no exact date yet.
