In this new MOBA, things will operate differently than in the well-known battle arenas. THE DAY Online focuses on the essentials.
The MOBA market is particularly dominated by major players like Dota 2 or League of Legends in the gaming scene. There is little room at the top for other MOBAs. Other titles manage to stay afloat with smaller, constant communities.
Now a new MOBA is trying to bring fresh wind into the scene and establish itself. THE DAY Online is in early access and allows you to gain experience now in the open beta.
Less farming in the early game, no resource costs
If you want to compete with large MOBAs or even pose a serious challenge, you have to do something “different” these days. Either you execute familiar elements “better” than your competitors, or you bring a new feel to the MOBA.
THE DAY Online is a free-to-play action MOBA with a third-person perspective. Players are thrown into the arena and offered close-range battles. The developers consciously reduce farming in the early game. In other games, you painstakingly gather resources during the early stages to buy your first items. Instead, the fights in TDO are supposed to start much faster.
So that you have enough power for fighting, they also do without mana costs. Who needs mana anyway? You just wait for the cooldown of the skills and can then use them. No more regeneration time.
THE DAY Online offers three different battle arenas:
- In the resource battle, you collect important raw materials that you must bring to your base. The carrier is protected by the allied team, and the enemies must try to reclaim the resources.
- Downtown can be compared to the typical MOBA principle that you already know from other games. Three lanes connected by smaller paths. You fight opponent towers to ultimately destroy the nexus. During the matches, you can collect buffs that strengthen you or the entire team.
- (Not yet in the game) In survival, it’s about being the last player standing in the battle. In this ten-player arena, only one can win.
You can battle with a selection of 28 different champions, divided into the main classes of tanks, fighters, ranged DPS, anti-tank, and supporters. Notably, classes can switch between two weapon modes. This allows ranged fighters to shoot with their bow but also switch to melee weapons when an enemy gets too close. Then the selection of skills also changes.
