Patch 8.1.5 of World of Warcraft brings even more good news. A notorious couple has apparently survived.
Even though many contents of Patch 8.1 have only been playable for a few days, such as the new raid Battle of Dazar’alor, players are already actively talking about the next update, Patch 8.1.5. In addition to creepy quest lines involving Xal’atath and a reunion with the hunter pet Hati, there is also an interesting detail for lore fans with its own quest: Saffy and Grizzek make an appearance!
Who are Saffy and Grizzek? In the pre-story of Battle for Azeroth, the book “Before the Storm”, the gnome Sapphronetta “Saffy” Flivvers and the goblin Grizzek Fizzwrench are commissioned by Gallywix to research Azerite. Saffy and Grizzek are passionate scientists who have worked together in the past and fell in love, but their relationship didn’t last. Now they are essentially the first scientists to properly engage with “Azerite” and create weapons, useful devices, and other things from it.
After realizing that Gallywix and the Horde are only interested in weapons and not in all the protective mechanisms or other useful devices, they fear that the Horde will only lead the world into a terrible extermination war with these weapons. They try to escape but are captured and should die in an explosion. In the book, it was not clear whether the two survived, as the last chapter ended with the explosion.
The Azerite Ring saved them: In a quest line from Patch 8.1.5, players can follow the mechanical bird “Feathers”, which leads to Saffy and Grizzek in the end. Both are in high spirits and when you approach them, it becomes clear why they survived. They have the status effect “Engagement Ring of Azerite”, which was able to create a shield in the book – for in the end, the two had fallen in love again.
After the player discovers the two, they fear that others (especially Gallywix’s minions) might find them as well, and the two leave together. As a reward, Feathers as a pet awaits.

Whether Sally and Grizzek will appear one more time is uncertain.
First hints already in Patch 8.1: The first suspicions already arose in the current Patch 8.1. For there, a “goblin and gnome” can be spotted when the faction assault takes place on Tiragarde Sound. The two offer players a rocket that, according to the description, is a mix of goblin and gnome technology. It has now been directly confirmed that the two are Sapphronetta and Grizzek.
