The current Synthesis league in Path of Exile is coming to an end. Players are not mourning it, as it is considered one of the worst leagues so far.
What kind of league was it? In the current Synthesis league, players encounter a Canvas and must find fragments of their lost memory.
This takes place like in a dungeon. You build connections to rooms where challenges await you. If you master these, you unlock a memory. However, you must act quickly, as the connections break down again.
As a reward, items and recipes await.
When does the league end? The end is planned for today, June 4.
The worst league so far?
How is the league perceived? The league is currently regarded as the worst in the community. The developers are aware of this. They have stated that everything happened very quickly this time, leaving little time for extensive testing.
What are the problems of the league? The league is plagued by several issues for many in the community. These include:
- The mechanics: Building connections and fighting through the dungeon suffers from balancing issues. The connections break down too quickly, leading to too much chaos. You essentially build the connections for hours, and as soon as you’re ready to start, they break down quickly, and everything is lost.
- Rewards: The rewards are not well received. Many find the items useless, and the truly cool recipes are found too rarely.
- Bosses: Bosses spawn too rarely and cannot compare to previous bosses. There are too few rewards, and the fights are apparently boring.
- Challenges: The challenges feel thoughtless.
What do players say? Many complaints have been made about the league, and most are glad when it is over.
Johny_Snoo states in the official forum: “It is horrific. The Memory Nexus is something I would prefer to forget.”
This comment is from March, and since then, a few things have improved in the league. Nonetheless, it is not among the community’s favorites.
There are players who do not view it as critically. The league has its problems, and there have been significantly better ones. However, for some, it is not entirely bad.

Everything is set to improve
Developers vow to improve: Grinding Gear Games founder Chris Wilson acknowledges the issues. He explains that the league does not meet the quality standards his team has for Path of Exile. Therefore, they now want to take more time for future content to develop it well and test it thoroughly.
With the next league “Legion”, starting on June 7, a “repeatable fun” is planned. Additionally, more updates are already in the works.
The fans of PoE expect a lot from the team. However, to achieve that, the developers need more time. Because Chris Wilson does not want to put his team through crunch.
