The one and a half year old MMO racing game The Crew experienced a second spring – in summer.
From June 16 to July 15, for one month, “The Crew” was part of the “Games with Gold” program for Xbox One. And it hit hard, at least that’s what Ubisoft said at a press conference regarding the revenues.
During this month, there were three million new users, bringing the total to eight million registered users of “The Crew” across all platforms. Additionally, players spent a lot of money. It is said that they earned 15 times more than usual during this period. A third of the total revenue generated during the entire lifespan of The Crew on Xbox One came in this free month.
Arguments for The Crew to become Free2Play?
Truly a golden month for “The Crew,” which seemed to remain somewhat under the radar as a genre mix and Buy2Play title. Perhaps this is also an argument to switch to Free2Play.

Xbox Live Gold corresponds to Sony’s “PlayStation Plus” offer. In addition to some other benefits (online access), players receive older games for free through the “Games with Gold” program.
