Wargaming, the developers behind World of Tanks and others, want to bring another Free2Play MMO to the market. To this end, the Belarusians founded a new studio in England and appointed industry veteran Sean Decker as the head.
Who is Sean Decker? Behind this name lies an old industry veteran who has worked for many renowned companies such as CCP (Eve Online), DICE (Battlefield), and Electronic Arts (SimCity) over the past 17 years. He is regarded as an expert in Free2Play games and has worked, among other positions, as Senior Vice-President, Product Development at CCP.
Wargaming’s mysterious new IP
What is Decker doing at Wargaming? Not far from London lies Guildford. There, World of Tanks developer Wargaming has opened a new studio. The task: To develop a new IP as a Free2Play MMO. Sean Decker is to lead this 25-person team.
What kind of game is it going to be? So far, nothing is known about Wargaming’s new IP. We only know that it will use the Unreal Engine. However, the new team of Decker may take over an also unknown game that the Seattle studio of Wargaming (formerly known as Gas Powered Games) was working on recently.
The studio was closed in May 2018 as part of global restructuring. Decker also joined Wargaming in May.
