On March 4th, the 108th Manga volume of One Piece will be released. In each volume, Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, has set aside a small corner to answer fan questions. There, new details about familiar characters are usually revealed, which few people knew.
What special detail was revealed this time? In the reddit forum, it was leaked which questions Oda picked and answered. Among them, one question is particularly exciting, as it concerns Mihawk “Hawkeye” Dracule, the best swordsman in One Piece.
A fan noticed that Sir Crocodile revealed a detail about Mihawk’s past in Manga chapter 1058: He was supposedly called “Marine Hunter” in the past. The fan wanted to know if it had anything to do with Mihawk joining the Seven Samurai.
Oda reveals that Mihawk was betrayed in the past. Therefore, he trusts no one anymore and prefers to travel alone. The betrayal seems to be related to the Marines, as Mihawk has harbored a grudge against the Marines since then.
To avoid further disturbances from the Marines, he joined the Seven Samurai. Although he had to do work for the Marines, he was not pursued by them anymore.
The downside: The Seven Samurai have now been disbanded. Therefore, Mihawk has joined the Cross Guild, which hunts Marine soldiers. There, he remains in the shadow of Buggy and thus does not have the full attention of the Marines on him.

What other questions were answered? The creativity of the fans knows no bounds, which is why the craziest questions came together. For example, one fan wanted to know what St. Garling’s hair would look like if he didn’t go to the barber.

Oda also drew a version of Ivankov who would have eaten Kaido’s Devil Fruit, and Gol D. Roger’s sword as a human. Thanks to the new round of questions, we also know the name of the Cross Guild’s ship: It is the “Big Top Blaster”.
Furthermore, Oda revealed what hobbies the members of SWORD have:
- Drake: Reptiles and Astrophysics
- Kujaku: taming others, making sweets
- Grus: solo camping, dancing
- Corby: deep-sea fishing, training
- Hibari: photography, collecting bags
- Helmeppo: fashion, running, and eating
Another funny detail that Oda reveals revolves around Bartholomew Bear. As the name suggests, Bear has “bear ears” sticking out of his hat. However, these are not real ears, as Oda reveals, but his hair.
