In Destiny 2, Guardians can rejoice, as the dungeon “Prophecy” is returning earlier than expected.
This is the good news: Bungie announced in their weekly blog post that the popular dungeon “Prophecy” is celebrating its return. Next week, on December 8, all Guardians will be able to venture back into the crazy parallel dimension.
All Guardians? Yes, the dungeon is not tied to an expansion like Beyond Light or the ownership of the current Season 12.
Simultaneously with the re-release of the dungeon comes:
- The highly anticipated next-gen upgrade for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S
- Update 3.0.1, which fixes numerous issues and finally allows you to accept bounties without visiting NPCs
MeinMMO provides you with all the important info about the top loot in it and also tells you why such a popular activity was removed.
Check out this video to see how the dungeon plays with the laws of reality and why the area is one of the visual highlights of the game:
This is what you need to know about the loot: The Prophecy dungeon provides you with powerful rewards upon first reaching a checkpoint each week. Completing it the first time in a week grants even the rare top loot. Only through such rewards can you acquire equipment that brings you level advantages beyond 1,250.
So if you want to get raid-ready or push your level for the Iron Banner, you should plan on one run per week. After all, it’s not just the high-level loot that tempts, but also the crazy atmosphere.
This loot awaits you: Two armor sets wait exclusively in the Prophecy dungeon:
- The DAITO Forge gear
- The updated “Trials of the Nine” armor
These weapons can be found:
- The updated Ikelos hand cannon and the Ikelos shotgun – Both weapons can intrinsically create powerful Warmind Cells.
- Additionally, there are a few less special legendary weapons in the loot pool.
Why was the Prophecy dungeon removed at all?
The dungeon was new to Destiny 2 with Season 11. With the release of the following season and the DLC, the activity was removed from the game. When this was announced, players were outraged and complained about FOMO.
This is the reason: Bungie then intervened and explained that there was no artificial scarcity or sinister plan behind it. The issue was that updates were made to the game, the engine, and mechanics in the background with Beyond Light.
The dungeon simply was not compatible with the “new” Destiny 2. Bungie then promised to hurry up with the reintroduction of Prophecy – and they kept their word.
What are dungeons in Destiny 2? Dungeons are popular PvE activities that you can tackle with a team of up to 3 Guardians. Think of it as a sort of mini-raid. There are also smaller puzzles, some tricky jumping sections, and tough boss fights against powerful enemies. Additionally, the activities showcase a unique atmosphere.
Prophecy is the only one of three dungeons that provides loot at the current level standard.
The other two dungeons are:
- The Shattered Throne – Here you must try to break an old curse in a dark fantasy world. Everything feels very gloomy and like a distorted fairy tale.
- The Pit of Heresy – The dungeon takes you into the depths of the Moon, to the heart of a Hive Sanctuary. If you’ve always wanted to storm an orc fortress in Moria with SciFi weapons, you can live out your fantasy in Destiny.

In the last weeks of 2020, however, there are still a few other points on the roadmap: Destiny 2 in December – These contents are waiting for you until 2021
