After the open beta of Battlefield V, changes to spawn and ammunition are now planned for release.
Open beta brings important feedback: In recent days, players were able to get a taste of the shooter Battlefield 5, which is set to release in November 2018. The feedback from this testing phase made it clear that the developers still need to make some adjustments to align BF 5 with player expectations.
Two of the main points of criticism are ammunition and spawn.
This is how DICE wants to improve Battlefield 5 at launch
Developers sought criticism: During the Battlefield 5 beta, the developers and community managers from DICE were particularly active on social media. They wanted to know what players thought of the beta and where improvements were needed in the shooter.
What will change? After feedback from the community, DICE is now adjusting spawn protection, UI displays, and ammunition before the release. Additionally, the profanity filter still needs some work, as it was part of the censorship madness in Battlefield 5.
Spawn Protection – What is changing?
On Twitter, a fan asked whether the spawn protection in Battlefield 5 would be removed at launch. This is a mechanic where players are protected or invulnerable right after spawning on the map.
David Sirland confirmed this. “Yes, there will be no spawn protection. Except right at the beginning for the first spawn, so that no weird things happen (player is invisible and cannot move).”
This addressed a problem that users highlighted in the beta. The spawn protection was not supposed to work as it did in the beta.
Users documented the spawn protection problem with videos on YouTube. They complained that an invulnerability function at spawn simply did not belong in Battlefield.
Further changes planned for the Battlefield 5 release
More ammunition: The severely limited ammunition in Battlefield 5 was a problem for players. There will be several changes regarding ammunition, revolving around
- the maximum ammunition a player can carry
- the amount of starting ammunition
- the amount of ammunition an enemy drops
- the locations and amount of resupply stations
- spawn with or without medipack
UI changes: Players complained that the interface was hard to see against a light background. In the release version, the interface is now supposed to automatically darken when you look at light backgrounds.
These are not all the changes that will be made at the launch of Battlefield 5. The mentioned changes show that DICE takes the community’s feedback seriously.
