Many players demand that Apex Legends should provide more frequent updates with more content. The CEO of Respawn recently commented on this and explained why that isn’t happening.
What’s going on with Apex Legends? When the battle royale shooter was unexpectedly released in February, there was a huge hype. However, that has since subsided, 2 months after release. Players are complaining about too little content and updates, and also a weak battle pass.
In response to the fans’ concerns, Respawn’s CEO Vince Zampella personally addressed the issue. He stated that major updates will still be tied to seasons.
What the CEO of Respawn says: As reported by Gamasutra , Vince Zampella explained during the GamesBeat Summit that Respawn always planned to release new content for Apex Legends season by season. And they do this to take care of the developers.
“Our goal has always been to be seasonal, so we stick to that. The thought was: ‘Hey, we have something that is going off the rails here. Should we try to release more content?’
But I think you then pay attention to the quality of life of the team. We don’t want to overwork them and let the quality of the content we deliver suffer. We want to try to increase that.”

Why not like Fortnite? It is clear that the CEO cares about the well-being of his employees. This news comes at the same time as Polygon published an article showing the crunch problems at Fortnite. Developers in Epic’s battle royale are reportedly subjected to 100-hour weeks and are under great stress.
What does this mean now for Apex Legends? Season 1 of Apex Legends brought a few new skins and the new legend Octane.

According to Gamasutra, Zampella stated that Season 1 offered less content than Respawn wished. They want to improve this in Season 2 instead of releasing updates on the side. They are therefore staying true to the seasonal content drops.
