According to player feedback, an update for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta has brought some changes. Among other things, the maximum player count for the battle royale mode has been increased.
A week ago, Treyarch announced that players would be able to play the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Battle Royale with a maximum of 80 players during the beta. At the same time, however, they stated that this number could change before the launch. And it happened faster than some might have expected. Already after the first day of the Blackout beta, the first change took place.
More players in the Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta
The maximum player count is increasing: The update allows the maximum player count of the Call of Duty Blackout Beta to grow by eight. Thus, 88 players can now compete simultaneously on the largest map in the history of the “Call of Duty” series. Initial reports suggest that the game runs mostly smoothly even after this change.

Further increase possible? Although there has been no further information regarding additional changes, the fact that the player count is increased after only one day makes it plausible that we might see another rise in the maximum player count during the beta test. Perhaps Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 with its Blackout mode will reach the previous genre standard of 100 players at release.
Other changes in the Call of Duty Blackout Beta
The increase in player count was not the only change made based on fan feedback. In addition to some bug fixes, items can now be picked up faster, there is a two-minute timer for the sensor dart, and the user interface has been slightly adjusted. It now closes automatically after 5 seconds if not actively used.
