You can now take revenge on the Butcher in Season 12 and basically beat him at his own game. In the “Season of Slaughter” – the season of slaughter – you will become the feared Butcher yourself.
In Season 12, monsters will be iconically “slaughtered”
This is how you become the Butcher: The new season is all about slaughtering. You transform yourself into the iconic Butcher, dismembering enemies with the axe and using your hook to filet distant monsters for the upcoming slaughter fest.
You can earn “Meaty Offerings” in the world, which you use at new Slaughter Shrines in Hell Flood events to attract enemies. And in the new slaughterhouses, you can transform into the Butcher. There, you remain for the entire run of the slaughter and chop your way through the hordes of monsters.

- Blizzard introduces a killstreak system reminiscent of Diablo 3. If you eliminate many monsters in a short time, a killstreak counter starts. Of course, causing chaos as the Butcher in Sanctuary is the ideal condition for that.
- Additionally, you enhance your killstreaks with new “blood-soaked items”. Their affixes scale with your current killstreak level. The longer you chop monsters in a row, the more powerful the bonuses become.
- A new seasonal quest line also directly introduces you to the bloody action that you will experience in the role of the Butcher.
