You love battle royale games, but would you like to play in a slightly unusual scenario? Then you should take a look at the new game from the studio Sharkmob, which is set in the universe of Vampire: The Masquerade.
What kind of game is this? The game does not have a title yet. However, it is a genuine battle royale in the style of PUBG or Fortnite – but with vampires.
Several vampire clans engage in fierce battles in the streets and on the rooftops of Prague. You are one of them and trying to be the last surviving vampire. To do this, you use your powers and weapons you find. But alongside the vampires, a dark force is also at work in the city – and it has its sights set on the bloodsuckers…
Vampires Without the Masquerade?
What is special about the game? There are several special features. One of them is related to the scenario itself:
Vampire: The Masquerade is actually known as a role-playing game. The Pen&Paper version from the publisher White Wolf spawned the popular single-player CRPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines in 2004, which gets a sequel in 2021.
A battle royale is unusual because according to the scenario of the game, vampires act in secret. There is the “Masquerade,” which gives the RPG its name. The bloodsuckers have made a pact that they must not reveal themselves to humans as vampires; they must act in secrecy. This is to protect their existence.
However, a battle royale is about open fights, which take place here in the streets of Prague. This does not correspond at all to the masquerade. However, this could still be clarified with the story of the game, about which nothing is known yet.
Another unusual point about the game is that you need to consume blood in order to use your supernatural powers and become stronger. This, together with the NPC enemies, is likely to create an interesting game element that also requires some strategy.
When is the game coming out? The Swedish developer studio Sharkmob announces the second half of 2021 as the release date. Platforms on which the battle royale game will be released have not yet been specified.
The team has also not shown any gameplay yet. More details are expected to follow in the near future.
