Movies and Series are not just about major roles. Every story also needs supporting characters, whose actors also need to be paid. How much a young actor earned in Stranger Things was explained in a video.
Which actor is it about? Tristan Spohn is a young actor who got the opportunity to appear in Stranger Things Season 4 in 2022. He played Two. This was a test subject in the lab where Eleven was also experimented on.
He was an antagonist who regularly bullied and tormented Eleven. However, Tristan Spohn is also active on YouTube, giving viewers insight into his acting world. In one of his videos, he talked about the money he received from Netflix, but also about other expenses.
Before the payment, there were costs for Netflix
What costs did Netflix incur? In his video, Spohn talks not only about his payment but also about the costs incurred. However, note that he only reports from his experiences here; he does not provide evidence or information about other contracts.
He begins summarizing the costs that Netflix had because of him. Since the series was filmed in Atlanta in 2021, he had to be flown in from Texas. He received his own driver who took him to the airport. In addition to this aspect, hotel and meals were added:
- For driver and flight, he incurs about 700 US dollars (approximately 607 euros).
- In the hotel, one has to bear the incidental costs initially, but according to Spohn, they are reimbursed.
- The costs for the hotel he calculates with the current prices, reaching about 7,560 US dollars (approximately 6,564 euros) for a stay of 6 weeks.
- In total, he comes to an amount of about 8,260 US dollars (approximately 7,172 euros) in costs that Netflix incurred. However, incidental costs are not included.
What kind of bonus payments did Spohn have? After that, Spohn talks about the bonus payments he received from Netflix. This starts with travel expenses.
- He received 150 US dollars per hour for travel time. Overall, he received 2,485 US dollars (approximately 2,157 euros) from Netflix for travel time.
- In addition, he received
Per Diem
, which is a bonus payment intended to offset his living costs during filming. That was 60 US dollars per day, totaling 2,580 US dollars (approximately 2,239 euros). - Additionally, there is food on set.
These bonus payments originate from the unions. With these regulations, according to Spohn, it is assumed that one is working for the company during travel time. This is intended to discourage production companies from booking the cheapest hotels far from filming, as this all costs the production. It also helps ensure that the actors’ time is not wasted.

Besides the fee, there were other bonus payments
How much money did he receive for his work as an actor? Before Spohn talks about his actual fee, he explains other bonus payments related to his role. This concerns flashback scenes and bonuses based on success.

Then he finally reveals how much his fee for the filming was. 2,287 US dollars (approximately 1,985 euros) because a 30-second scene was forgotten, for which he had to be flown in again. In addition, there were also 4,700 US dollars (approximately 4,080 euros) for overtime.

Along with the forgotten scene and the overtime, he ended up with a fee of 36,987 US dollars (approximately 32,112 euros), with the bonus payments totaling 58,662 US dollars (approximately 50,930 euros). However, taxes are still missing.
How much tax did Spohn have to pay in total? Of the 58,662 US dollars, 15,639 went to taxes. Additionally, he had to pay a commission fee to his agency. They get a percentage of the fee. In Spohn’s case, that was 4,430 US dollars.
In total, he earned after taxes and fees 38,593 US dollars (approximately 33,506 euros). Interestingly, he would have earned significantly more due to the strikes by the unions 2 years later. Even though that sounds like a lot, it still looks much better for well-known actors: Disney paid Johnny Depp 68 million dollars for a seven-minute appearance
