Warhammer 40,000 presents 6 minutes of gameplay in a trailer for Space Marine 2. In addition to an epic story, a cooperative mode and PvP battles are waiting for you.
The developer studio Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment will deliver a new third-person action shooter in the renowned world of Warhammer 40,000 on September 9, 2024. You can already pre-order it via the official game website. It will be released on Steam, PS5, and Xbox.
A new trailer has now excited viewers with 6 minutes of gameplay and insights into the story and various modes of the action shooter.
What can you expect? In Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, you can expect a total of three different modes. In the campaign mode, you will experience an epic story either solo or with up to three players, as the developers promise.
The story of Space Marine 2 takes place a decade after the events of the first game. You will take on the role of Demetrian Titus, who, despite having the reputation of one of the greatest heroes of the Ultramarines, must prove his loyalty anew in this installment.
If you play through the story with three players, the other two will take on the roles of Titus’ battle-brothers Chairon and Gadriel. In the story, you will have to face hundreds of enemies that may swarm the screen simultaneously. For this, you will have various weapons and abilities at your disposal, allowing you to fight in both ranged and melee combat according to your preference.
The trailer not only shows gameplay but also several areas that should be familiar to Warhammer fans. It also features the base where you return after each battle to report and prepare for the next fight.
Besides the campaign mode, which lets you experience the main story, the developers promise two additional modes that are expected to have a higher replay value:
- Operations Mode: In this co-op mode, you can create a character from 6 different classes and customize it to your liking. With your squad, you will face various missions against the enemies of humanity. The more missions you complete, the more cosmetics and upgrade materials you will receive for your armor and weapons.
- Eternal War: A PvP mode in which you can compete against other players worldwide with your squad. Whether you approach it head-on or tactically is up to you. Here too, you will collect XP and materials to prepare yourself for future battles.
What are the reactions? Many fans of the franchise seem quite excited about Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 after the new trailer. At least, this can be inferred from the comments (via YouTube). Fans are excited about a small detail: the helmet!
The user transformerwhiz2192 is particularly excited about a small detail and writes: “Is anyone else hyped by the simple fact that it finally looks like we can play as Titus with his helmet on?” Another user agrees, stating that it was the right decision by the developers since helmet mods were so popular in the first game.
Many fans seem to agree that Space Marine 2 looks like the “ultimate” 40k game. User hupyrbyut4746 writes that the game looks incredible and pleads that they don’t mess it up.
The various modes also appear to be well received by many fans. One comment reads: “Feels like something from the golden age of the late 2000s. Single player, co-op, multiplayer. All in one game.” What do you think of Space Marine 2, and which mode are you most looking forward to after this trailer? Feel free to write to us in the comments. The ending of Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader was sobering for MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus: Even the “good” ending in the new Warhammer role-playing game is terrible, but somehow exactly right
