The layoffs at the team of Marvel Rivals were probably just the beginning. Apparently, the Chinese publisher NetEase is cutting about a dozen game projects.
What is happening at NetEase? MeinMMO reported that publisher NetEase has laid off part of the team of Marvel Rivals, despite the fact that the hero shooter is receiving very positive reviews and can attract hundreds of thousands of players to the servers daily.
According to a report from bloomberg.com, this was just the tip of the iceberg. William Ding, the CEO and founder of NetEase (and billionaire), apparently wants to cut even more positions (and even close entire studios), reduce international investments, and discontinue about a dozen game projects.

What does this have to do with the Warhammer MMORPG? The new Warhammer MMORPG is known to be created at the US studio Jackalyptic Games, led by genre veteran Jack Emmert (Neverwinter Online, Star Trek Online, City of Heroes). The previous publisher of the game? NetEase.
According to Bloomberg’s investigations, however, NetEase may have stopped funding the game… Keywords: reducing international investments. At least it seems that the management of Jackalyptic is already in talks with potential new publishers.
It is also reported that the Warhammer MMORPG was able to be presented at a recently held fair, and that the feedback from the audience was positive.
What do we know about the Warhammer MMORPG? The game is said to utilize Unreal Engine 5 and focus heavily on PvE content. They do not want to use a traditional combat system
