Asmongold was for a long time one of the biggest streamers and YouTubers for the MMORPG World of Warcraft. However, he hardly logs in anymore. In response to a viewer’s question, he explains why.
What happened? On December 29, 2024, the streamer Asmongold went live on Twitch with his second channel zackrawrr. While reacting to the video Exposing The Botting Mafia in World of Warcraft
by YouTuber Madskillzzhc, a viewer in the chat asked why Asmongold no longer plays World of Warcraft (on stream).
World of Warcraft and also Final Fantasy XIV have long been among Asmongold’s most played games, which is why he was the biggest MMORPG streamer on Twitch. However, he is now primarily active on his second channel and is known for his strong opinions on current gaming topics.
In response to the viewer’s question, the streamer once again became very vocal. At the timestamp 02:52:41 (via Twitch), the question is asked, and he replies: ‘Why don’t you play WoW?’ Because the game is damn boring. The game is boring and weird.

What does Asmongold criticize? Specifically, the streamer currently lacks motivation, at least in his own words:
I don’t really play the game anymore because I don’t feel like there’s anything in the game that fulfills me. Maybe I’ll change my mind in the future and think differently about it.
But at the moment, I see no real motivation for me to play WoW. I just don’t want to do it.
In direct response to his criticism of the game, he expresses that his opinion could naturally change again.
He also states that he was one of the most important people who produced content for World of Warcraft. Accordingly, it is understandable that many people want to know whether he plays the game or not.
Then he touches on the likely true reason why he no longer plays: But the real reason why I don’t have as much interest in playing anymore is simply because I feel like I’ve done all of this before.
Further, he is asked if he would play WoW Classic+ and says that he could imagine that. However, he isn’t currently playing WoW Classic Hardcore, although he is part of the well-known raid guild OnlyFangs.
In this regard, he says: With Hardcore WoW, the thing is that people only want to see that from me because of OnlyFangs, etc., etc… I don’t like playing games that I have to focus on. So, you might not know this, but most of the time, my mind is somewhere else entirely. I’m not really thinking about anything. I’m just sort of, like, floating through my thoughts.
World of Warcraft, however, seems to be doing just fine without Asmongold. The current expansion The War Within has refreshed the game well.
