There seem to be some issues currently with World of Warcraft. This is also reflected in the community. The most well-known and largest WoW streamer has lost interest.
Asmongold is not interested anymore: The WoW streamer and YouTuber Asmongold remarked in his WoW stream on November 24 that he is finding it increasingly hard to enjoy WoW. This also has implications for his future.
“There is nothing fun to do anymore”
Who is Asmongold? Asmongold is the largest WoW streamer worldwide in terms of watch time. Partly due to him, WoW was temporarily more popular than Fortnite on Twitch.
Asmongold is known for his closeness to the community and his quirky ideas in his streams. In one of his events, he was almost brought to tears by the reaction of his community.
Streamer takes a strong stance: At the end of his stream on Saturday, November 24, he noted that “everything in WoW is boring and a waste of time.” There was a brief argument with his co-player McConnell, who noted that it is annoying how Asmongold only complains without doing anything. Asmongold’s response:
I don’t know. The thing is, I just don’t want to anymore. There is nothing fun to do anymore. I’ve played the game my whole life and I’m just not interested anymore. I’m done with it.
He even ended his stream with the words: “I didn’t think I would ever get to this point. I’m just leaving. Peace!”
The problems of WoW
Viewers want something different: The clip has made it to reddit, where Asmongold himself commented. In a highly rated comment, he wrote about the specific problem with streaming WoW.
He himself plays WoW outside of the stream and sometimes has “accidentally” fun with it, but the viewers apparently don’t want to see it anymore. With BfA, many viewers who don’t actually play WoW tuned in. They are not interested in content like:
- Mythic+-dungeons
- mythic raids
- high-level arena matches
Such things make up a large part of WoW but are difficult for laymen to follow. Lighter content like transmog competitions cannot be done continuously, as they would become boring.
What are the problems of BfA? Asmongold has previously addressed the problems of BfA, but repeats some of them. He claims it is “superficial, dull, meaningless, and simply not fun.” He personally no longer enjoys playing his character.
Especially the repetitive content particularly bothers him. He cites Mythic+-dungeons as an example, which always play out the same way and are simply “boring.”
Is Asmongold quitting? In his concluding statement, Asmongold says he doesn’t believe he will ever stop playing WoW. He will always stream it. He just may also start streaming other games.
BfA has made this a clear requirement, and he himself is no longer just “fulfilled” by WoW content.

Blizzard is also planning some changes for WoW. Loot from dungeons will soon be as strong as currently in Uldir.
