The biggest streamer on Twitch for World of Warcraft is Asmongold. However, he has been taking a break from streaming for months, after he rose to become the most popular streamer on the platform with WoW Classic in autumn 2019. Now Asmongold is back on Twitch.
Since when has Asmongold been away? His last stream on Twitch was on December 12, 2019.
After that, he lost interest in streaming. He announced a short break, which kept getting longer. First, it was said that he would be “back tomorrow,” which turned into a week, and now it has been 107 days.
For more than three and a half months, his 1.27 million followers on Twitch have not been able to hear Asmongold play WoW, get excited about something, or ramble wildly.
When is Asmongold coming back? The streamer has announced his return to Twitch for April 2. He will be back on the streaming platform after nearly 4 months.
“I talk to myself in the car like I used to on stream”
This is what he says about his return: Asmongold says it is now time for him to come back. Because he sits in his car and has conversations with himself. He talks to himself like he normally would on stream. Therefore, he believes he can also do it again in front of a live camera.
Asmongold aims to stream the Alpha of Shadowlands for WoW. If it goes online before April 2, he will start streaming earlier.
The streamer says he plans not to make a big deal out of the return; he will simply start streaming on Twitch again and playing WoW.
That’s why Asmongold was away for so long: Asmongold explained at the end of February why he had taken such a long break.
The significant growth due to WoW Classic bothered him and led him to feel he had to put on a facade to avoid constantly causing friction. Additionally, there had been a lot of drama in WoW Classic that affected him.It seems Asmongold was simply burned out after his climb to number 1 on Twitch for three months and needed as much time away from the camera as he spent at the top of the platform.
In WoW Classic, Twitch streamers had it tough. Some purists felt that such Twitch streamers would “disturb their game.” After all, they didn’t exist 15 years ago. Some wanted to drive Twitch streamers off their servers in WoW Classic.
This is how Asmongold’s return goes
Update 2.4.; 7:12 PM: Asmongold is indeed live again on Twitch. Since about 4 PM this afternoon, he has been streaming again. Currently, 61,085 people are watching him. That’s quite strong for his standards. In his last stream before the break, only an average of 25,081 people were watching.
