The streaming platform Twitch has been particularly controversial in recent days. Now, a high-ranking employee apparently leaves the company.
This is what happened at Twitch: Overall, a lot has happened around the streaming platform Twitch this week.
- Some big streamers announced a protest and wanted to strike – due to the issue of gambling streams.
- In response, Twitch stated that it wanted to restrict gambling content on the platform.
- Shortly after, however, the discussion moved in a different direction. The news came that the distribution of sub revenue for major streamers would be adjusted – from 70/30 to 50/50.
- And then a secret call came to light where some of the biggest streamers accused each other and argued.
In the call, some of the biggest streamers were represented, including xQc, Trainwreck, Asmongold, and Mizkif, who criticized some of the other biggest names on Twitch – Pokimane and HasanAbi. But there was also trouble between Mizkif and Trainwreck. What consequences the call will have is still uncertain. You can read everything about the Twitch call here.
Now, another chapter is being added to this crazy week: Constance Knight will likely leave the streaming platform.
“Senior Vice President of Global Creators” is leaving – Responsible for streamer support
Who is it about? As reported by the portal “Bloomberg“, Constance Knight is leaving Twitch after just over a year. Knight held the position of “Senior Vice President of Global Creators” in the company, after previously working at YouTube and Instagram.
A report from “Variety” regarding her hiring in July 2021 stated that Knight was mainly to support live streaming partners and content creators worldwide in her role at Twitch, assist them with their careers on Twitch, and help foster their growth.
But this phase now seems to be over: According to Bloomberg, Knight addressed employees last Wednesday in a letter to inform them that she is “going on a new adventure” that offers her great opportunities for personal and professional growth. It will again be about “creators”.
According to Bloomberg, it is unclear whether this decision is related to the current changes and controversies surrounding Twitch. However, the portal points out the timing of the departure: just before the letter, Twitch had decided on the change of sub-participations for streamers.
According to Bloomberg, Twitch declined to comment on Knight’s resignation or the sentiment in the company regarding it. Therefore, it is unclear whether the resignation is related to this decision.
It’s not only Twitch that is currently controversial. A personnel decision is also causing a stir in League of Legends esports: The founder of G2 Esports, one of the best LoL teams in the world, is stepping down.
