47,035 players are currently making Lost Ark the most played MMORPG on Steam. And they can be happy, because the game is getting such a large update in December that it has to be split into two parts. The updates contain many features for active players, but returning players might also enjoy them.
Why is Lost Ark so popular?
- At the release of the MMORPG in February 2022, there were over 1.2 million viewers on Twitch and about the same number of active players.
- With regular updates, the game keeps managing to attract new players and bring back old ones. The Jump-Start servers, for example, allowed newcomers to quickly rise to the endgame.
- After the number of players was at its lowest in July 2023 with 24,390 users, Lost Ark managed to bring back many players with an update. In September 2023, an update came that made it easier for players to reach Item Level 1,580.
To ensure these numbers rise even higher, Lost Ark is now releasing another update with numerous features. The update is so substantial that it has to be divided into two parts.

What new features will there be? The upcoming update will be divided into two parts, mainly aimed at active players and returnees. They will include the following things:
- On December 13, 2023, the wonderland Voldis will be released.
- This will be a new continent with fresh chaos dungeons and a new area boss. To enter the continent, players must achieve an item level of over 1,520. The continent will not only feature a new capital but also a large rainforest. There will be various monsters and with the Raiyas, a new race that can help you reach the Tower of the Wise.
- On December 20, 2023, the rest of the update will come.
- Besides a new Abyss Dungeon, the Ivory Tower, there will be the elixir system as a new progression system. The elixirs can be collected in the new dungeon.
The progression system is likely to be particularly appreciated by players who want to further customize their characters. The elixirs can increase players’ power and enhance their equipment with new effects. There will be a distinction between normal and legendary elixirs. The latter will only be available at higher difficulty levels.
Who benefits from the new features? Since the new continent can only be entered with an item level of 1,520, the update is especially worthwhile for active players and those who have recently stopped playing or can quickly catch up to item level 1,520.
A special item level is also required for the new dungeon: here, players must have a level of 1,600 on normal or 1,620 on difficult to be able to enter it.
