In Hearthstone , Blizzard and Samsung have teamed up to hold a promotion. The real winner is an internet startup, an Android emulator.
As the German site buffed reports, the big winner of the promotion campaign to promote Samsung’s Galaxy S6 is not, as one might think, Samsung, but an internet startup. Owners of a Galaxy phone can currently secure three card packs and a special card back in Hearthstone. Those who do not have this special phone are left out.
However, “How to still” videos quickly surfaced online, showing players how they could fool the client over an emulator: “Hello, I am not a PC, I am a Samsung Galaxy, please give me the three free packs.”
These videos created such a huge influx for the featured Android emulator that they temporarily closed account creation yesterday morning.
We’re experiencing a huge amount of requests. This could provoke errors & timeouts on our platform. We are working on mitigating the issue.

Three hours later, they figured out where this sudden influx came from and welcomed the many new Hearthstone players on Twitter. They signed with DrBoom.
Welcome on @Genymotion #Hearthstone players! We are throttling account creation to avoid impacting customers. Please be patient. #DrBoom
