2. PS5 Price: How much will the PS5 cost?
This is what we know: So far, Sony has not disclosed the price for the PlayStation 5. Many are now speculating about whether it could at least cost more or less than the Xbox Series X, which poses the strongest competition to Sony.
Most analysts and experts believe the PS5 will be significantly more expensive than the previous generation. However, there is still no official price.
It is also quite likely that Sony could be willing to sell the console at a loss: Andrew House, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, once stated (via Forbes.com) that they incurred losses of 3.5 billion dollars with the PlayStation 3 in 2007 and 2008. Nevertheless, the console eventually became profitable thanks to strong games and online services.
With the PlayStation 5, long-term revenue from online services could be more important than the sale of hardware alone:
What would we be happy about: A price range or a rough direction in which the price of the PS5 is heading would please us immensely. And not just us.
For many users, the price is one of the significant criteria for which console they ultimately choose and whether they would buy one – at least for the MeinMMO readers, the price of the PS5 and Xbox Series X is important.
When can you pre-order the PS5?
This is what we know so far: There is still no official way from Sony to pre-order the PlayStation 5. However, some designers have already presented their ideas of what the sales box for the PS5 could look like.
Also, some retailers can already allow pre-orders for the PS5, but the prices still seem like placeholders and there are few reliable sources.
What would we be happy about: Sony could open a pre-order page at its new PS5 event.
