When Lorre found out, he was furious. He allegedly called the responsible parties and said: You can’t fire him. I cast him, I believe in him, I will take responsibility for this decision. He is my man.
Lorre also spoke with Nayyar himself. He assured him that it was nonsense that he was not on board.
Lorre was able to assert himself, and Nayyar remained Raj until the end of the series with season 12.

How did Nayyar find out that he might be fired? Nayyar apparently learned through a news website that he was somehow fired. It was reported that his co-stars flew to New York for a presentation. However, he knew nothing about it. As Fandomwire reports, Nayyar had to live with the uncertainty for over a month about whether he still had the job. However, due to Lorre’s efforts, he was able to remain Raj.
While Raj and Howard were initially more like supporting characters in the early episodes of the series, they quickly developed into important and independent characters with their own character developments.
