Even before the beta launch of the new expansion of World of Warcraft, Blizzard is listening to the players. A hero talent tree is being significantly changed.
With the upcoming expansion “The War Within”, a new major chapter begins in the story of World of Warcraft. However, there will also be some changes to the classes, as all classes will gain access to new additional talent trees. Some of these “hero talents” have already been introduced by Blizzard in advance. However, feedback from the community for one of these trees was so negative that they thanked for the feedback and promised: Improvements will be made.
What did Blizzard say? A few weeks ago, the developers introduced the “Oracle” tree for Holy and Discipline Priests. The feedback from players, however, was quite dissatisfied, which is why Blizzard wrote in the official WoW forum:
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the Oracle talent tree.
One of our goals is to share these hero talents as early as possible so that we have enough time to evaluate and make changes if necessary. After reading your feedback, discussing the talent tree, and playing the concept internally, we have decided to take another look at the Oracle tree, especially regarding replacing Soul of Power.
What was the problem with the Oracle tree? There was a lot of criticism from fans, and especially among priests, there seemed to be a relative consensus that the Oracle talent tree would not really play well. The most common criticisms were:
Replacing Soul of Power with a new effect feels wrong. Soul of Power is simply too strong to be exchanged. This makes the talent tree feel like a poor choice right away.
The new spell had 3 different effects that occur in a time-based rotation. This complicates cooldown management even further and discourages even more people from playing priests at all.
What will Blizzard change? What exactly the developers want to change is still not entirely clear. They only pointed out that they will revise the talent tree again, “especially regarding the replacement of Soul of Power.” That at least suggests that Soul of Power will probably not be replaced in the future.
Whether the random element of the spell, in which the granted buff changes every few seconds, will also be removed remains to be seen.
