The Valentine’s Day event in Destiny 2 is almost over, and many fans are disappointed. Even the top reward for the event isn’t really impressive and is only somewhat useful.
Until the Weekly Reset on February 19, the Crimson Week is still ongoing, the second to last event in the current Season 5. However, the week-long celebrations for Valentine’s Day are not well received by many fans. Especially the rewards leave a lot to be desired in the eyes of numerous Guardians.
That’s why the event is disappointing: Compared to the Festival of the Lost and the Dawning event, the Crimson Week seems almost boring and uninspired to many fans and offers few reasons to participate – especially for veterans.
This Valentine’s Day event is basically all about a limited-time PvP playlist. Admittedly, this can be quite fun, but besides that, there is almost nothing that makes the event attractive.
Those hoping for fresh or special features like the Haunted Forest or cookie baking from previous holiday events will be disappointed here. Besides some new bounties, there are no innovations.
Especially players who are already familiar with the Valentine’s Day event from last year have hardly any reasons to play this time.
Bungie wasn’t particularly creative with the rewards either: You can earn all the event-specific items from last year. Additionally, there is a new exotic ghost shell and an event bow that doesn’t really impress.
Who is the Crimson Week worth it for? Overall, the event is only worth it for Guardians who
- really enjoy the Crimson Doubles mode and want to push their Valor rank
- missed the event and thus the rewards last year
- have not yet reached the power level cap of 650 and still need to level up their character
What the event bow offers for Crimson Week: For many Guardians, the most attractive reward of the event is the bow “The Oath”. However, if you’re not a true bow enthusiast, it is basically only worth it for one reason – for leveling.
The bow comes for all owners of Forsaken at power level 650 and as a masterwork of level 10. So if you’re still chasing the current level cap, this bow can prove to be extremely valuable.
Because it gives you a significant boost, allowing you to quickly catch up several power levels. Powerful rewards from regular sources will subsequently be higher, and you’ll reach 650 faster.
Otherwise, the bow is rather average as a weapon. It has “Quickdraw,” which is generally a strong perk. Because Quickdraw increases stability and reload speed after rapidly succeeding hits. However, this perk is less noticeable on bows compared to, for example, hand cannons.
The second important perk “Shooter’s Tempo” also does not provide any significant reduction in draw time, as experts discovered in tests.
There are indeed bow enthusiasts who swear by bows with lightweight frames in PvP, and “The Oath” is likely to be one of the best, if not the best bow for the Crucible in this archetype. A critical and a body shot are enough to take down a Guardian.
However, this bow is currently still not a top choice – neither in PvE nor in PvP. The competition from hand cannons and pulse rifles is just too strong. Hardly anyone can truly recommend “The Oath” at the moment and considers the weapon rather bad or average.
