Growl FM has several reasons why the channel ranks so high, even though it was only introduced in Update 2.0. In addition to the various songs, all of which are high-quality and widely diverse, they all come from the Cyberpunk 2077 community.
CD Projekt RED announced a community radio for the DLC Phantom Liberty in 2022 and invited its player base to submit their own musical contributions, from which they wanted to include the best 12 to 15 tracks in the game.
For the “#Grow FM Community Music Contest,” around 7,800 titles were submitted by participants and the winners were announced in early 2023. The studio ultimately decided to release Growl FM not with Phantom Liberty, but to make it accessible to all players with the free Patch 2.0.
In the game, the underground channel from Dogtown is considered a pirate station hosted by DJ Ash, a member of the Mox. Anyone who wants to consciously enjoy the music can head to a Growl party near Batty’s Hotel in Dogtown, where Mox and other fans dance and celebrate to the music.
Because of this selection of the best of the best from the community, Growl FM is so fantastic. No song resembles another and you have an ever-changing mix of songs that are all bangers.
I personally often and enjoy listening to Candy Shell by Spirit Machines, even outside of the game. Props to the community!
