Next year, it’s back in theaters in one of the most iconic firehouses in New York. In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, old and new ghost hunters embark on a mission to save the city together.
What kind of movie is it? Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire premieres on March 28, 2024, in German cinemas and will be the sequel to Ghostbusters: Legacy from 2021.
Ghostbusters: Legacy brought the iconic ghost hunters from the 80s back to the big screen two years ago. In a trailer, you now get a first glimpse of the new adventure:
What does the trailer show? The trailer begins on a beautiful summer day in New York. A heat warning is mentioned while you see children playing in the water or people lounging happily on the beach.
Shortly after, the scene changes completely as a layer of ice breaks over the sea and people flee from the water in panic. Soon, all of New York is covered by a thick layer of ice.
The children and grandchildren of the famous ghost hunter Dr. Egon Spengler now face a new mission and new puzzles. In this part, they are again portrayed by well-known faces such as Paul Rudd (Ant-man
) or Finn Wolfhard (“Stranger Things”).
Most importantly, the trailer suggests that you can expect a reunion with the original ghost hunters.
Fans can look forward to a reunion with the old crew
The crew consisting of Bill Murray (Dr. Peter Venkman
), Dan Aykroyd (Dr. Raymond “Ray” Stantz
), Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore
), and Sigourney Weaver (Dana Barrett
) seem to play quite a significant role in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
Unlike in the 2021 film, the trailer promises that they won’t just have small cameo appearances. Additionally, there will be a reunion with the unsympathetic lawyer Walter Peck from the first film from 1984.
