Rank 1: Legion
My highlight will likely come as no surprise to most players, but World of Warcraft: Legion tops my list.
Legion grabbed me “from the first moment” and did not let go. After the dramatic events on the Broken Shore, where Tirion dies, Varian sacrifices himself, and Sylvanas retreats, I was completely immersed. Every single area appealed to me above average and had its own atmosphere.
Additionally, I was never bored – not for a moment. I always had a wide selection of content that I could get excited about. World quests (Paragon rewards through reputation), dungeon runs, pet battles, collecting templates for artifact weapons. If one character became tiresome, I switched him out and learned the class story of another character, falling in love again with the cool artifact weapons.
Moreover, many of the “big problems” like the Legendary system were not an issue for me. I was not among the 0.3% of top players who needed a “Best in Slot” legendary, or they would not be taken along.
Everything just fit in Legion for me.
The highlight from Legion: Suramar. I never felt more deeply immersed in a story than in the Suramar area. The story of the Nightborne rebellion was the best I have played in WoW so far. Plus, the area was huge, varied, and had numerous “hidden” contents like secret quests or treasures that increased the mana cap. The city of the nightborne is full of details that I miss in other places of Azeroth.
On the last page, we have the two losers…
