In Destiny 2 exists a special form of your armors. The “Artful Armor”. With it, you normally have a special advantage over any normal armors. However, a bug, referred to by Bungie as the “Indiana Jones” bug, makes these armors almost useless at the moment. We will show you what is going on.
What are artful armors? Artful armors are armors that can only be earned in Grandmaster Dungeons. They differ from your usual equipment by a special detail: An additional mod slot.
With it, you can equip more additional bonuses from your artifact that can enhance your build even further. However, for weeks, Guardians have been reporting problems with their high-end armor. Sometimes no further mods can be equipped, and the field of the additional slot simply disappears out of nowhere.
Bungie explicitly titles this bug as the “Indiana Jones” bug, and there is a reason for that.
Indiana Jones bug causes problems
Who is affected? This bug has circulated since the beginning of Season 17. Players complained that they were missing a mod slot for the artful armor.
Bungie addressed the bug in the last patch 4.1.0.2, but it was only half fixed. Guardians who had logged in during the dilemma in Season 17 still possessed the bug.
What is the problem? Bungie has now elaborated on why the bug is still present and cannot be so easily fixed.
When the development team starts a new season, aspects in the game are shifted, improved, or completely removed. This also applies to the old and new artifact mods. When the team looked at the armor from the “Sog der Habsucht” dungeon, they noticed that the artful armor mod slot suddenly disappeared.
This happens because when a new season starts, the artifact mods are removed, and the system tries to “repair” the armor. Therefore, the mod slot is hidden and no longer visible.
Ryan Hammond from Bungie describes this error as follows: “It’s like if Indiana Jones exchanged the golden idol for the sandbag.” Hence the name “Indiana Jones” bug.
“If you deviate even a little bit, everything can collapse. In this case, some of the sandbags we used were not quite right,” Bungie explained the hesitant fix of this issue.
When will the bug be fixed? Bungie dates the fix for the next patch. It is unknown when this will come, but it would be conceivable next week, on July 19, or only at the start of Season 18 on August 23. The new fix will then contain a script that scans your in-game data and repairs the errors of the broken armors.
So no worries, because your armors are not irreparably broken. They will soon return to their former glory so you can use them in the game as intended.
