One thing that has never been criticized in Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 was the gunplay. It just feels great as a Guardian to shoot at enemies with the various weapons. They are easy to master, “feel good in the hand,” and have great sound.
In which other first-person shooters is the gunplay also particularly special?

Battlefield 5

The first-person shooter Battlefield 5 was officially unveiled on May 23, 2018. The latest installment in the Battlefield series lets fans engage in intense virtual battles during the Second World War this time. Corresponding military technology and weapons are used, just as is typical in the series.
A season or premium pass like in previous titles will not be included. New content such as maps, game modes, weapons, or items should find their way into the game through a new live service – the so-called Tides of War. The thematically adjusted content updates are to be made available to all players, progressively advancing the development of in-game scenarios.
How does Battlefield V play? Single-player fans are awaited by the War Stories, which are already known from Battlefield 1. These scenarios allow players to experience personalized and emotional stories of various characters during the Second World War.
Co-op enthusiasts should also find enjoyment in the latest Battlefield title. With Combined Arms, there are co-op missions designed for four players that are randomly reassembled and thus offer different tasks and objectives.
However, the focus of Battlefield 5 is again on the multiplayer part of the game. With Grand Operations, multiplayer lovers can expect large-scale battles.
These operations extend over four virtual days (rounds). Different maps and modes are played during that time. The results of the respective days will impact the following days. For example, a previously losing side in a conflict may start with fewer resources or respawn tickets until in a final battle they stand exhausted and drained, and the last survivor secures the overall victory for their side.
Interestingly, Battlefield 5 is not set to receive a much-anticipated Battle Royale mode (at least not yet). However, fans need not miss out on certain gameplay mechanics either. Some elements can be found in the Grand Operations mode.
To bring more dynamism into the game, Battlefield V also gives you the opportunity to build fortifications from sandbags, tank traps, MG nests, barbed wire, and other elements at certain spots. Additionally, you can mount mobile turrets onto vehicles, and the new physics ensure realistic destruction of buildings and that explosions and grenades markedly affect soldiers.
On May 17, Activision introduced the Call of Duty title for 2018 – Call of Duty Black Ops 4. The fourth installment of the Black Ops series is set between Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3, so it takes place in a modern scenario.
The traditional single-player campaign has been omitted and replaced with a Battle Royale mode named Blackout. In addition, there’s the zombie co-op mode with different scenarios and the regular multiplayer part of the game.
How does Black Ops 4 play? Black Ops 4 is again more strongly oriented towards the classic and grounded Call of Duty experience. Hence, it disregards all too futuristic and community-unpopular features like jetpacks or wall runs.
Individual specialists with their unique abilities take a stronger spotlight. This makes team play more important than it has been in previous titles.
A change that will be particularly difficult for many long-time CoD veterans to get used to. The previously typical auto-heal function in the series has been omitted. Health regeneration in Black Ops 4 must be initiated manually. However, excessive use of this new mechanic will be counteracting through a corresponding cooldown.
Additionally, each weapon is set to have its own understandable recoil behavior. In earlier parts of the series, the recoil was calculated randomly. Now, in Black Ops 4, fans can get to know and master their favorite weapons progressively better with increasing playtime and experience.
Moreover, weapons are set to receive a new accessory category – the so-called operator mods – to give each gun unique abilities. For example, an LMG with suppressive fire can blur the vision of enemies.
The setting of the first-person shooter Battlefield 1 is World War I. The campaign takes you into a world at war, as does the multiplayer: You can dive into several online modes with up to 64 players and wage large-scale PvP battles.
During this time, you not only fight on foot as an infantryman but also control various land, air, and water vehicles.
How does BF1 play? The gunplay of different weapons is realistically designed. You should first learn the weapons and spend time with them to truly master them. How strong is the recoil? At what distance is the weapon effective? The weapons allow for various play styles.
Call of Duty: WW2 takes you into World War II. The first-person shooter features an action-packed campaign, but as soon as this is mastered, the comprehensive multiplayer of the shooter comes into focus.
In addition to the classic game modes like Team Deathmatch or Kill Confirmed, there is a new objective-based mode called “War,” which is oriented based on Battlefield style and places greater emphasis on team play.
How does CoD: WW2 play? Call of Duty: WW2 is published by Activision, just like Destiny, and has a gunplay that holds its own against that of the MMO shooter. It is similarly accessible; the weapons are easy to master and feel good in hand. Action, reactions, and the “run & gun” principle are at the forefront. WW2 avoids tricks like wallruns and jetpacks found in previous CoD installments.
Titanfall 2 is a first-person shooter from Respawn Entertainment and EA. It is considered by many to be the best shooter of 2016 that unfortunately got overshadowed between two blockbuster FPS releases.
In Titanfall 2, you fight both as a pilot (as a foot soldier) and as a titan. The titans are large, heavily armed, and heavily armored combat robots, controlled and operated by the pilots.
How does Titanfall 2 play? The shooter offers high-quality and extremely fast gameplay in the first-person perspective, featuring a single-player campaign, but is particularly popular due to its fast-paced multiplayer matches. Most players who have tried Titanfall 2 are surprised at how fluid and enjoyable the shooter is.
Doom is the latest installment in the famous first-person shooter series from id Software. In it, you blast through hordes of demons using various iconic weapons like the BFG. There is a single-player campaign as well as multiplayer modes.
How does Doom play? The unique aspect of Doom is its brutal and fast-paced gameplay: You can smash, slice, crush, or shred your enemies to pieces, with developers not skimping on blood effects. All this happens in fast-paced and fluid encounters, providing a hellish nonstop action experience.
Fast, action-packed, and bloody – For those who love such shooters, Doom offers happiness.

Escape from Tarkov is expected to be a hardcore shooter that places significantly more value on realism than other titles in the first-person shooter genre. It is set to include RPG elements and MMO features.
The game currently impresses with strong graphics and bold ideas. Players can become ill and must treat various issues such as wounds, concussions, or hypothermia correctly. Additionally, problems can arise with weapons if they are mishandled.
How does Escape from Tarkov play? In this hardcore shooter, the gunplay is not as accessible and fluid as in Destiny, but rather slower – you feel the recoil of every shot.
Whether Escape from Tarkov will meet its own expectations of being an ultra-realistic shooter will likely be revealed throughout 2018.
An official release date is still pending. However, the game is already in Closed Beta, with an Open Beta expected to follow shortly, allowing all PC players to preview the shooter. The developers from BattleState Games keep the option open to release the shooter for PS4 and Xbox One as well.
