The best AI features you can try out in Windows 11 already

Microsoft has already integrated some AI features into Windows 11. MeinMMO presents the most exciting possibilities. Some of them can also be used in Windows 10.

With Windows 11, Microsoft has given its popular operating system some extensive upgrades. Some popular programs can now handle AI features, and some features have even made it to the older Windows 10.

Copilot, Copilot Pro, and Copilot 365

What kind of tool is this? Copilot is the AI assistant that is now integrated into Windows. Copilot is based on the GPT 4 language model and is integrated into Bing search. You can open Copilot in Windows 11 using Windows + C. However, Microsoft has stated that Copilot should also be available in Windows 10 (via microsoft.com). In Windows 10, Copilot is available as a preview.

Copilot is the AI assistant that is now integrated into Windows. Copilot is based on the GPT 4 language model and is integrated into Bing search.

The basic functions, access to GPT-4, and generating AI images are already included in the free version.

Copilot Pro:

Copilot Pro offers some additional features compared to the “regular” Copilot. You get priority access to AI features and can use Copilot in selected Microsoft 365 apps. The price here is 22 Euros per month. If you want to use Copilot in 365 apps as well, you also need a Microsoft 365 license.

365 Copilot:

Microsoft 365 Copilot is a business tool that is integrated into the entire suite of professional 365 applications. Microsoft 365 Copilot is aimed at businesses, while Copilot Pro is aimed at individuals.

The tool is primarily used for large tasks in companies:

Creation of documents
For brainstorming
Assistance with PowerPoint presentations
Calculation of numbers in Excel
Processing of business data for development processes

Microsoft 365 Copilot is therefore much more extensive than the integrated AI assistant, which has been developed for regular users at home or in the office. This is also reflected in the price: For a business license, you pay about 30 Euros per month.

Create AI Images and Remove Backgrounds with Paint

What kind of tool is this? In Windows 11, Paint can now create AI graphics. When you start Paint, you will see a “Cocreator” button in the toolbar for this purpose. The system uses OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 model to generate images.

Another feature that Paint has received is the ability to remove backgrounds from images. To do this, open an image with Paint and select the “Remove Background” button in the “Image” section of the toolbar. Paint then uses AI to identify the different areas of the image and can remove the background.

Snipping Tool with AI Text Recognition

What kind of tool is this? In Windows 11, the Snipping Tool (Windows + Shift + S) can now recognize text in selected areas. You take a screenshot as usual and then have the option to extract text.

Practical: The tool can even obscure sensitive data such as addresses and phone numbers.

Background Blur in Photos

Available: Windows 11 | Where: Integrated into Windows | Price: Free

What kind of tool is this? The Photo app has also received an AI upgrade. You can now blur backgrounds with the Photo app. Once you have opened the photo within the Photo app, press the “Edit Image” button and then in the toolbar, click the “Background Blur” button.

The artificial intelligence then recognizes the different layers of the image and only blurs the background.

Automatic Video Compilation in Clipchamp

Available: Windows 11 and Windows 10 | Where: Additional installation of Clipchamp required | Price: Free or 10 Euros per month (Clipchamp Premium)

What kind of tool is this? Microsoft Clipchamp is a video editor from Microsoft that you can install on Windows. Microsoft has now integrated AI features here as well.

To do this, start Clipchamp and use the option “Create a video with AI.” The AI then creates a professional video from the images and videos that you provide to the AI.

Clipchamp is generally free to use, but some features are paid. With a “Microsoft 365” license, you can also use some paid features at no extra charge.

Copilot in Edge

Available: Windows 11 and Windows 10 | Where: Integrated into the Edge browser | Price: Free

What kind of tool is this? Microsoft has also integrated Copilot into the Edge browser. The features can be used in both Windows 10 and Windows 11. To do this, start Edge and hover over the right edge.

Here you will find the “Copilot” icon and can use various functions with a click: You can get answers to questions or have professional texts created for you. Additionally, you can also install further plugins that add more features.

Smart App Control

Available: Windows 11 | Where: Activated on new installations of Windows 11, otherwise turned off | Price: Free

What kind of tool is this? Smart App Control (SAC) was introduced by Microsoft as a new feature with Windows 11 version 22H2 (version 22572 or higher). According to Microsoft, Smart App Control is intended to reduce the risk of running malware.

The tool checks with a cloud-based analysis whether the installed application can be trusted or not. More information can be found at Bund.bsi.de.

However, the feature is only active for new installations of Windows 11. Furthermore, you can only decide whether to activate or deactivate Smart App Control. The deactivation is permanent and cannot be undone.
