Trove
Setting: Fantasy Block World | Developer: Gamigo | Platform: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S | Release Date: June 9, 2015 | Payment Model: Free2Play
What kind of game is this? Trove is an MMORPG in a voxel world that doesn’t take itself too seriously. There are various classes, including the Boomeranger, Pirate Captain, or Candy Barbarian. You can equip these characters and learn new skills with them.
- Trove offers an open world where you can build on certain plots, similar to Minecraft.
- The game impresses mainly with its colorful graphics and diverse gameplay content.
- In the endgame, there are dungeons that you can complete together with other players.
Trove is still popular years after its release and is one of the few Trion games that are still successful. On Steam, it has 81 percent positive reviews, making it one of the best-rated MMORPGs.
What has happened recently? Trove is continuously developed by Gamigo, although not in as large steps as it was at launch and under Trion Games. In October, the update “Rising Tides: Release the Kraken!” went live – featuring the Kraken as a Titan boss, new fish, a 5-star dungeon, and more.
There are also very regular in-game events. In December alone, there were a handful of in-game events such as Bard’s Harmony, Luxion, The Last Of Them, and Time of Surprises.
Who is Trove interesting for? Trove is a mix of dungeon crawler, MMORPG, and Minecraft, but does not excel at any of these. However, the diverse classes and combat system are impressive. If you feel like exploring dungeons, grinding, and simply having a fun and relaxed time, you should definitely check out Trove.
However, the game does not offer a great lore, only a few building options, and quite a lot of repetitive grind if you want to have the perfect equipment. By the way, if you are looking for MMOs where you can’t fight, you’ll find them here: 5 MMOs where you can’t fight even if you wanted to.
