In 2017, the MMORPG Swords of Legends Online (SOLO) was released in China. This year it is set to come to the West. The publisher Gameforge (TERA, AION) will release the game for PC in Europe and America.
What kind of MMORPG is this? Swords of Legends is set in ancient China and focuses on storytelling and quests. The story revolves around a magical sword that promises great power to its owner. However, this sword is controlled by a demonic creature.
Swords of Legends stands out particularly with its beautiful graphics and is expected to offer the following content at launch:
- 6 different playable classes – Harbinger, Summoner, Bard, Sword Mage, Berserker, and Spearmaster – each with 2 specializations and no gender lock
- An active combat system with dodging rolls
- A game world with various large zones where you can encounter players and monsters from Chinese mythology
- Fully voiced cutscenes in English
- Housing where players can retreat
- Various mounts
- Dungeons and raids with up to 20 players
- Various PvP modes where you can fight against other players

All information about the release of Swords of Legends
When and how will the game come to us? As the publisher Gameforge has informed us, Swords of Legends is expected to be released in the West in summer 2021. The release is planned through the in-house client, on Steam, and at Epic Games.
Before the release, there will also be a closed beta. Currently, there is no exact date for that.
In line with the planned release in the West, Gameforge has already provided us with information and a German trailer for the game, which we have published on YouTube:
Is there a German localization? Yes, the MMORPG is expected to be released with German, English, and French texts. However, the voiceover will only be available in English.
Will the MMORPG be free-to-play? No, you will need to purchase access to the game once. Pre-sales start today, and you can choose between 3 packages:
- Standard version (€ 39.99)
- Deluxe Edition (€ 59.99)
- Collector’s Edition (€ 99.99)
Pre-orderers will receive exclusive cosmetic items and access to the closed beta. Additionally, wish names can be secured even before the official release.
In China, Swords of Legends is a subscription-based game and completely forgoes an in-game shop and pay-to-win mechanics. How it will be with the shop here in the West is currently hard to say. According to a message on Steam, only cosmetic items and no gameplay-relevant content are supposed to be purchasable there.
