The Barschwa Day in Pokémon GO was a disappointment. At least that’s what many players say. Some trainers did not find any shinies and were disappointed with the tasks.
What happened? On Saturday the Barschwa Day in Pokémon GO took place. For three hours, players had the chance to complete special field research that involved Barschwa. But many players are now angry and disappointed. For some trainers, it was the worst event in Pokémon GO for a long time. But why?
Here is the problem: Every player wanted a shiny Barschwa, but some trainers ended up empty-handed. The field research was said to be too complex and the shiny rate too low, at least according to some voices.
This was the problem with the event
This is how players approached the event: The Barschwa Day was, at first glance, somewhat comparable to a Community Day.
Normally, anyone who plays for three hours has a high chance of getting a shiny. At least that’s the case during the Community Day. The expectations for shinies and the event were therefore high.
Where was the problem? It became known in advance that a certain number of great or good throws had to be made to complete field research. The exact number was not disclosed.
However, many players were quite surprised when they saw the following quests:
- Barschwa Research: Earn a candy by walking with your buddy
- Barschwa Research: Hatch 1 egg
- Barschwa Research: Land 10 great throws
- Barschwa Research: Land 15 good throws
This meant that players had to catch an enormous number of Pokémon to complete some of the quests. Players found it difficult to finish many field researches.
Currently, Kyogre and Groudon raids are also ongoing. Some players even defeated the monsters in pairs:
What follows from this? If you can complete fewer field researches, you naturally also have fewer chances for shinies. Accordingly, few shinies were caught by players.
Many players complained that the shiny rate was too low. Too few Barschwa were actually shiny Barschwa.
This is what the players say
This is what players saw as the problem: It was less the more difficult quests that troubled players, but the lack of time. Some trainers would have preferred such an event to last the entire day or even the entire week.
That would have increased the chance of getting a shiny.
The Reddit user “Novrev” wrote: “Time is the biggest problem here. The tasks were set as if the event were to last a day or a weekend, while a three-hour event should have had easier quests.”
Another user had a different idea: “It should have been a weekend-long event since the shiny rate is so low. For 3 hours, they should either raise the shiny rate or even introduce a limited special research that would be quite difficult to complete, guaranteeing a shiny if finished within the time frame.
Are there any positive voices as well? In the community, there were few positive voices. One user wrote “goechr_” on Twitter that he liked the event, as the tasks finally posed a challenge and made a shiny from an event rare.
What is your opinion on the event? Should Niantic repeat such a day? Or should they quickly forget about it?
