A Reddit user has combined several suggestions and offers a solution on how Blizzard could adjust the unpopular Azerite system in World of Warcraft.
Of the new systems in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, the Heart of Azeroth with its unlockable bonuses for various gear pieces (chest, shoulders, head) is quite unpopular. Every day the forums are filled with complaints about unlocking.
The biggest complaints are:
- The Azerite abilities are boring
- The Azerite abilities have too high requirements
- Farming Artifact Power is too important and too tedious
- New gear with better item level is sometimes a downgrade since you cannot unlock Azerite abilities
There are several suggestions for improvements and adjustments. On Reddit, the user Chazlazer has summarized most complaints and developed a system that could help Blizzard fix most of the issues.
The Heart of Azeroth: Chazlazer suggests that Blizzard uses the old artifact weapons as templates to transfer their attributes into the Heart of Azeroth (or come up with new ones). With each level up of the heart, players would then receive a new “talent point” and unlock a new ability.
Azerite gear with more bonuses: Chazlazer, however, has planned the biggest adjustments for Azerite gear. Instead of just having three to four rings, each Azerite item should have six rings filled with different things:
- Ring 1 – Secondary Stats: Players can choose which secondary stats they want on the item (Critical Strike, Haste, Mastery, Versatility).
- Ring 2 – Set Bonus: The second ring would contain an effect as strong as a 2-piece set bonus from the former tier sets.
- Ring 3 – Defensive: The third ring would contain a defensive ability, as is currently the case. Such as healing on damage or a periodic shield.
- Ring 4 – Set Bonus: The fourth ring would again have a tier set bonus, this time as strong as a 4-piece bonus.
- Ring 5 – Legendary Effect: The second-to-last ring would contain an effect comparable to the bonuses of legendaries from Legion.
- Ring 6 – Item Level: The last ring remains unchanged and increases the item level of the item.
Aside from that, the requirements for each ring should be reduced so that players can unlock their individual abilities earlier.

These suggestions received a lot of approval. After almost 13 hours, the post already has around 7000 upvotes and has been gold twice.
Whether the developers will take inspiration from these suggestions or whether changes are even planned is still uncertain. The community is eagerly waiting for the next “Q&A” where they expect answers, hopefully before BlizzCon.
What do you think of these improvement suggestions? Are they good and sensible changes? Or should one let the current system run for a few months and then form a judgment?
