Where to go in The Elder Scrolls Online, after we have made Elsweyr unsafe? What will the ESO addon be in 2020? Reddit threads support the hopes of many fans: Skyrim!
The new Elsweyr addon is not even released yet and already there are debates on Reddit about which part of the ESO world we will be allowed to explore next.
Of course, this can be dismissed as meaningless nonsense, but some fans from the Reddit community have already combined the facts well regarding Elsweyr and provided valid arguments as to why the next chapter will definitely take place in the area of the Khajiit.
Let’s take a look at what speaks in favor of us setting off on our next adventure after Skyrim in the next big addon.
Clue Number One: This year is all about dragons
Here’s why dragons are important: As we reported before, Zenimax plans to tell a connected story in ESO throughout the year, in which dragons play a major role. And what is the first word that comes to mind when you hear “dragon”?
Correct. Skyrim!
It would be very surprising if Zenimax didn’t at least lean a little on Bethesda’s milestone and give us an excursion to areas we know from the currently most successful Elder Scrolls title. After all, we might not catch all the dragons in Elsweyr.
Clue Number Two: There isn’t much choice left on the map
Elsweyr is the last region under the control of the Aldmeri Dominion, which so far is still a large inaccessible spot on the map. Therefore, we can assume that our next journey will take us to an area of the Daggerfall Covenant or the Ebonheart Pact. Unless the elves conjure up a new island.
Here’s why it probably won’t be the Redguard land: Hammerfell or one of its kingdoms, Redfall, seem to be planned for The Elder Scrolls 6, meaning the Daggerfall Covenant probably draws the short straw first. I don’t believe Bethesda intends to spoil extensive parts of the area where their next big single-player game takes place in ESO.
This leaves the Ebonheart Pact. We can already explore Morrowind, we visited Black Marsh last year in Murkmire, so there’s only Skyrim left.
Clue Number Three: The third in the bunch
This hint is in the trailer: Those who were there from the beginning might remember that in the first cinematics three heroes, each representing one of the factions, were the main characters. The beautiful elf lady from the Dominion …
The grumpy Nord from the Ebonheart Pact, whom you wouldn’t want to meet in real life…
And the cool Breton with the hood, who probably wouldn’t ever be met because he’s probably always hiding in the shadows.
It seems that Zenimax planned from the very beginning to feature these heroes one after the other in the cinematics for the addons.
- In the cinematic for Summerset we saw the elf lady
- At the end of the cinematic for Elsweyr, the Breton appeared again
- So… one could actually assume that we will see our Nord again in one of the upcoming cinematics. And he will hardly be lying on the beach in Hammerfell in the sun. It would be much more likely that he returns to his hood and finds a huge chaos there.
What new class could we expect in this case?
This is why a bard might come: It may seem absurd at first, but there is a distinct possibility that we could play a bard as the next class in ESO. The bard is the last stereotypical role-playing class that isn’t represented in ESO yet.
And precisely in Skyrim lies the stronghold of bards: the Bard Academy. This is not just a building, but a guild in the capital of Skyrim. All bards for the province are trained here.
Since it has happened before in ESO that a guild or at least a guild-like group is in the center of a DLC expansion, the thought is not too far-fetched that we could go on tour with the bards in Skyrim as roadies and get a fitting new skill line like with Summerset for the Psijics.
And what if it’s not Skyrim after all?
Then we will most likely get a PVE area in Cyrodiil or the rest of Black Marsh will be uncovered. Then we just got unlucky, and the guys who wrote the Reddit threads are probably calling for a shitstorm.
What do you think? Will we all meet in Skyrim next year for a mead? By the way… Have you already been to the Festival of Fools?
