The invitations for the first wave of the Alpha of the new “World of Warcraft” expansion Shadowlands have been sent out and the Alpha has now started. MeinMMO shows you how to find out if you can participate.
Since when has the Alpha been running? Since Thursday evening, April 9, starting around 8:20 PM, the first players and invitees have been able to download the Alpha of Shadowlands. After the first wave of invitations was announced on April 6, it has now begun.
So far (8:30 PM), the servers are still offline. However, the download is already in progress. Those who have been granted access can already download the test client to prepare for the Alpha.
How to check if you are included: If you are invited, you will not receive a key, but an activation for your account. Usually, an email follows, though it may arrive late.
You can check if you are included directly in the Battle.net client. There under the selection “Version” above the “Play” button of WoW, you should find the entry “Alpha: Shadowlands”, as shown in the screenshot by WoW expert MMO-Sankar:

If nothing has appeared there yet, keep an eye on the downloader throughout the evening or check again tomorrow morning. The waves often take a while and it may take some time for all invitations to be sent out.

What’s included in the Alpha? The current state of the Alpha is still far from completion of the next expansion. In the current version, the area Bastion should be available, where the Kyrian Covenant is based, and the associated dungeon, the Necrotic Wake.
Later in April, additional zones and dungeons as well as the endless dungeon Torghast, Tower of the Damned will be added. During further testing, the new changes to the classes can also be viewed.
If you want to get a picture of Shadowlands, make sure you’re signed up for the tests and hope for an invitation.
